their own figures say there “might be up to” 0.5% fraud in the system.”tough love” is not protecting the poorest, nor is it giving taxpayers anything back. it is only giving much needed cash to one of the governments pet companies, to pay huge bonuses to their bosses, and provide a worse service than offered by the NHS.putting vulnerable frightened unwell people through a totally rigged points s

ystem which will put them into jobcentres with no support whatsoever is inhuman. a system developed by the UNum company in america (designed to avoid paying valid insurance claims, resulting in the company being fined 300 million dollars by the stae of california, and banned from trading in 6 countries, their team now working for the DWP.it is creating an underclass of “useless eaters” as the nazis described disabled people, a view shared very much among the right wing.

i have not heard evidence for the statement you gave there, Jim, and it goes very much against my research and could strongly affect my campaign’s direction, if provable. i would be very grateful if you would be able to let me know where this information came from, please?”

head of the National Audit Office, the Comptroller and Auditor General, has qualified the 2010-11 accounts of the Department for Work and Pensions. The Department’s accounts have been qualified every ye

ar since 1988-89. The latest accounts have been qualified because of the material level of fraud and error in expenditure on state benefits (except for the State Pension which has a low level of error). The total of overpayments made by DWP, due to fraud and error, is an estimated £3.3 billion (or 2.1 per cent of total expenditure on benefits administered by the DWP of £153.6 billion).

In 2010-11, the total overpaid breaks down into approximately £1.2 billion lost to fraud, £1.2 billion to customer error, and £800 million to official error. The total sum lost, £3.3 billion, is an increase on that in the previous year (2009-10: £3.1 billion) but constitutes the same proportion of overall benefit expenditure (2009-10: 2.1 per cent). Total underpayments in 2010-11 are estimated to be £1.3 billion.

Some benefits are prone to error and the Department faces significant challenges in administering a complex benefits system in a cost effective way. The Department has, however, refreshed the approach it intends to take in reducing fraud and error. The Government’s proposal to introduce a Universal Credit to replace some of the existing working-age benefits, which are the benefits which have historically suffered from the highest rates of fraud and error, is an opportunity to reduce fraud and error./1012/dwp_account_2010-11.aspxThe head of the National Audit Office, the Comptroller and Auditor General, has qualified the 2010-11 accounts of the Department for Work and Pensions. It’s all from the National Audit office website, I found that the DWP press office spin doctored the figures to make it seem like worthwhile accounting but the NAO give the true figures.

The NAO figures are not about fraudulent claims by benefit claimants, it’s about fraud and incomptance inside the DWP

Oh FFS back in the 70s a then Social security office in Wales invented a number of streets in the Rhondda and claimed benefit for hundreds of people who did not exist, they even made a TV program about it

the expenses of senior DWP staff, some very questionable travel costs

And thats not even looking at the A4e,Atos,Centrica,G4s.UNUM and all the other proven fraudulent companies with DWP contracts. the Benefit fraudsters are peanuts by comparison to the contractors.

you couldn’t make this shit up , FFS they gave out contracts after they already knew that A4E was a con

It’s fraud on an industrial scale, but the pricks like Ian Duncan Smith and Grayling are trying to cover up by spinning the crap out of it, because the truth would not only be political suicide but would bring down this shit government,My c

ontact at the DWP has been forced to sign the official secrets act, and Atos are now trying to get their workers to do the same thing. while we, the disabled are getting the blame for this unbelievable incompetence.

“I tried the legal approach back in 2005, when we tried to sue the MOD for PTSD, in the test case Mr Justice Owens awarded Malcolm New £620,000 but a week later he refused the group action after coming under government/MOD pressure. they crapped themselves and changed the law in less than a week. The fact is it matters not which party is in power as they are all shit.”
